Decisions

The average adult makes 40,000 decisions per day.  All day, every day, we make decisions.  Many of these decisions are basic, non-life-altering things that take only .000001% of our brain capacity. We decide when to wake up in the morning, what to eat for breakfast, and whether or not to wear matching socks (a struggle for me).   Sometimes, however, an unusually difficult decision is thrown at us. Deciding to quit your job or get married are extremely stressful decisions, the consequences of which could last the rest of your life (dramatic music).  This evening, I was presented with such a decision.
All I could see was colors, stripes, and flashing lights!  My large brain struggled to take it all in.  Tonight I was faced with choosing the background of my blog.  As everyone knows, the background you pick says a lot about you.  If you choose the wrong one, you could be forever labeled with a multiplicity of names: girly-girl, tomboy, weirdy, lame-o, glitter girl (I was in danger of this one), scary, baby, posh...err... you get the point.  This was a huge decision for me with unforeseeable consequences.  Click.  I entered the virtual dressing room. Shopping has always been my forte. Search through enough old, weird stuff and you'll finally find a gem.  Time to start rummaging.  Click.  I was laying in a sunny meadow blowing dandelions...one sneeze later.  Click. I was in a poetry club, dark liner under my eyes...one snap later. Click.  I was dancing through a swirl of yellow, red, and green...one blink later. Click.  I was looking down my nose at potted plants and china teacups.
Nothing seemed to fit. I even tried to design my own background in paint.  Paint and I aren't friends anymore. Where was the one that screamed ME?  It had to symbolize me; it had to show people a glimpse of my soul, what I truly am!  A beautiful decorative set of pillows caught my eye; for some reason, this just clicked, and so did I.

What does this say about me?  I'm fuzzy, soft, and completely useless.  Oh dear...
